Strathmore
Hall Arts Center
Bethesda,
Maryland Constructed in 1902, this Neo-Classical mansion
and 11 acres of the original estate are now home to a county-owned
facility for visual, literary and performing arts. Working closely
with this public/private partnership, QUINN EVANS | ARCHITECTS
completed the design and construction documentation for two additions
and the comprehensive interior rehabilitation of the arts center. Serving over 100,000 people annually, the design
challenge was to create additional space within this historic
mansion. The new 4,200-square-foot addition houses a museum shop,
conference room, offices, public restrooms and two egress stairs.
Rehabilitation of the existing mansion provided for museum-quality
exhibition galleries, new administrative offices, and improved
visitor and service circulation. |
