Crooked Tree Arts Center
Petoskey, Michigan
An 1890 church building was transformed for its new life as a visual
and performing arts center. Here the Crooked Tree Arts Council hosts
regional and national performing arts groups, fine arts exhibitions,
a film series, and an arts education program.
QUINN EVANS | ARCHITECTS
collaborated with a local architect to complete the facility’s
renovation and design a multi-level addition, providing much-needed
space for the Center’s growing activities.
Students of all ages have easy access to the reconfigured basement
level, devoted to classrooms and studios. Parking and barrier-free
access integrate smoothly with the character of the historic structure
and the site. On the upper level, the Center’s staff enjoys
airy offices and a view of Lake Michigan. The main level entrance,
adjacent to the sanctuary-turned-auditorium, welcomes the public
into an open floor plan of art galleries and gift shop. Climate-controlled,
acoustically balanced galleries double as spaces for recitals and
community gatherings. |
